Trading Review: 04-10-2018

Gross PnL: +$1103.

Net PnL: +$987. $70 in borrows.

Kind of a weird day, almost every stock was a little weird. I erred on the side of caution on the bigger stocks, which caused me to miss NVDA - but stopped me from fighting TSLA too hard. So probably a good result, and quite happy with my mentality.

CLVS - Was just a bit too aggressive, I should have been more cautious while price wasn't confirming idea. Could have easily traded around position, and maintained a good average price by shorting into that short squeeze spike (which I had anticipated). Instead was too aggressive prior to it, and was considering stopping into it.

HEAR - Bit of a gimme, bit illiquid so scared me a little. Probably should have been fractionally more aggressive; but all good.

KONE - Perfect scalps on the long side. Would have been even bigger, but at one point (circled) I ended up bigger than I should have been, with a poorer average than I want. So I sized down quickly.
Other thing about KONE is that I was trading it on the long side, along with the pumpy chat-room. I didn't like this as in theory it made it crowded. But I trusted my read on the stock, and used the pumps to offload, and the exits to get a good entry.
One thing I nearly forgot to mention, KONE was a picture perfect example of when struggling to get fills it probably goes higher. I had plenty of bids out, and they literally almost always narrowly missed. I adjusted perfectly and was fractionally more aggressive.

NVDA/TSLA - Solid trading given I felt like I didn't have a strong edge. Played on the cautious side.

Net PnL: +$2527. $110 in borrows.

Pretty sick day, and was happy to avoid making any other trades. Because of today was able to lock down a decent sized withdrawal. So quite happy about that.

Simply put I traded against the pumper excellently today. I had my biases; but was waiting for clean signal. When pumper couldn't lift it, easy short.
Also did a solid job of trading around position on TRPX which was quite choppy.

HEAR an absolute gift, which made no sense. Again, entry somewhat determined by pumper; but pristine setup; so went a bit bigger than TRPX.

Trading Review: 04-06-2018

Gross PnL: +$1240.

Net PnL: +$1187. $9 in borrows.

Real grinder type day, no big ideas but small scalps/trades added up. Never really did big size on LFIN but obviously on net a big winner.
One questionable moment on INCY where I added when I possibly should have been sizing down (but stop was still in place anyway). Realised my mistake, and took off most of it into the dip.

INCY - Good read to start with, and probably didn't fully recognise the pretty clean trend change (fighting it instead, although I was only in 1/4 for that bigger move).
Something pretty cool happened on INCY. I narrowly missed a fill by 1c, when it bounced 20c from my cover. Covered immediately. Now I would have actually been filled a few minutes later, but the overall cover was good.
Why this is important, I have noticed I've been getting pretty fucked when I narrowly miss a profit target (usually first target). It's almost like algos are trying to buy (on net) and don't want to fill my lone resting order to buy.
Definitely a habit I want to get into. It's more of a risk protection thing, rather than locking in profits. The tendency for it to go on and lead to a stop-out; or certainly a spot where I would add back is uncanny.

LFIN - Firstly, I held 100 shares (about 1/3) for a move to $30. For whatever reason I decided that it had got close enough to $30, and sold when I saw the sellers around $28.50. Halted literally 2 minutes later. So dodged a massive bullet there, as it probably is halted for a long time, and opens down at least 50%.
But overall sick scalping. Unfortunately I nailed the bottom, and wanted to hold from there - but was pretty heavy around that spot so closed it all off.

SPOT - Good stop. Still like the trade idea, so not sure how I feel losing on this style trade two days in a row.

TSLA - Really nice trade, and good recognition that I was only scalping against the dominant trend - which resulted in getting an amazing cover. Hindsight, I should have been trading the range pretty aggressively on this. Pretty obvious that it was going to have a range day.

Trading Review: 04-05-2018

Gross PnL: +$1553.

Net PnL: +$1304. $159 in borrows.

Pretty crazy day, and some very solid trading across the board (slipped up fractionally towards the end as mentioned). Started out quiet and a tonne of things popped up - hence the huge cost in borrows.

DLPN - Did a solid job of trading both sides. Wanted to borrow twice as much (which was prob a little greedy), but did a really nice job of trading both sides. Was very small on the long side as well, but it paid off.

LFIN - Reason I started in short so early was because of the price action from the previous day. I knew that when it went down, went pretty quick - so decided to position into strength and try cover risk. Considering how early I was I did a pretty good job.
But at the same time, I was looking at it like: "I would be making money trading this on the long side". Just food for thought.
This stock really fucked me on the short side though, missed covered by 1c twice (before big bounce/rally); and accidentally stopped out of 300 shares instead of 500 (no idea how I fucked that up - this gave back roughly $1000).
Traded the washout on the long a tad more aggressively than I should have (borderline revenge trade, but not really).

SNOA - Just standard grinder type, never really gave much.

SPOT - Excellent stop, although unfortunate. Incredible risk-reward, so would take this trade over and over.

Trading Review: 04-04-2018

Gross PnL: -$431.

Net PnL: -$547. $19 in borrows.

Didn't take the stop on TSLA, and somewhat of a revenge trade on CLDR. I say somewhat because it was well thought out/executed but did too big size to try and make it back. Thank fuck it was well executed cause it squeezed me as far as it could.

Fucking annoyed about it really. It was a relatively clean spot to take the stop on TSLA (although it moved quick). Even if I had taken the stop for a chunkier loss than ideal - there was a tonne of opportunity today so would have been easy to make money.

Trading Review: 04-03-2018

Gross PnL: +$642.

Net PnL: +$605.

Pretty solid day. I had an accurate market bias, but didn't really get to express it (as the ideal stock for it was TSLA and I'm not quite as comfortable trading it).

SLS - First few scalps showed me that it was trading quite organically (I easily got filled on the bid, and then immediately out on offer for a small bounce) so was comfortable getting aggressive on the vwap dip.

BPTH - Pretty much dream setup, when the pump chat couldn't lift it on the open I should have hit it harder. Oh well, solid patience; and good execution not going full size where I did. Very happy with this.

FLXN - Fractionally too aggressive on the first downmove; but worked the trade and it paid off (to some extent). Recognising when it stopped working, and taking a time stop was also key here.

Trading Review: 04-29-2018

Gross PnL: +$367.

Net PnL: +$294. $20 in borrows.

Good grinder day. Got tested a tad more than ideal on MOV (from being early); but overall good day and finished early.

Took two solid stops on AVGR which is all good, and solid trading as well.
