Firstly, a little bit about me. I am from Christchurch, New Zealand. I attended Canterbury University from 2010-2014 graduating with an honours degree in Finance. I began trading foreign exchange when I turned 18 at the end of 2009, and traded this part-time until late 2012. I experienced the blowup that most traders have in this period, and had many other valuable experiences, but I was never consistently profitable in this time frame. I was close to profitability in late 2012 when I decided to put it on the back seat to start a car dealing business.
Having gathered some decent capital together from the car dealing I turned my attention to trading in the last year of University to pursue my goal of becoming a consistently profitable trader. During this time I also switched my main instrument of choice to US stocks because I find them more enjoyable than standard fx. I still trade fx and also trade options and futures.
Overall, a year later I am now a slightly profitable trader across the different instruments, but I have been struggling with patience and have been overtrading. My bigger picture ideas are very accurate, but my execution on the lower time-frame to create the appropriate risk-reward trades has been very poor due to the poor trading. I feel that my trading skills are developed enough that there is no rational reason I shouldn't be able to execute successfully on my idea.
This leads to the aim of this trading blog. By sharing my daily PnL, daily reviews and a daily playbook review (following the process detailed by Mike Bellafiore in The Playbook) I hope to bring some accountability and consistency to my trading.
